What the song means

"777" is a restless, reckless love song about a relationship that refuses to slow down. The narrator wants closeness without commitment ("I don't like strings") and treats the affair as a fast drive: living on the edge, pushing speed, and not wanting to stop. The "two hundred on the dashboard" image keeps the mood racing, and the repeated chorus declares that the narrator "can't slow down" even when the ride is dangerous.

The second verse adds doubt and emotional cost. The narrator is working, switching lanes, hearing heavy metal, and crying on their shirt, while the other person is asked not to stay out and the narrator says they are leaving. The pre-chorus shows the same tension: the narrator offers comfort and pretends to be a boyfriend, then pulls away and admits they will be gone by morning. The repeated "blame it on me" is a sort of confession, owning the damage before anyone else can point at it.

The key images support this. The speeding car stands for the relationship's intensity and its risk, and "crash course" suggests that the lesson will come through painful experience. "Seven, seven, seven" and "a little piece of Heaven" make the bond feel lucky and almost sacred, even as the narrator knows it will likely end badly.

Key phrases explained
outta your mind
crazy, out of your head — Informal way of asking "are you crazy?", showing the narrator's disbelief.
strings
obligations, commitments — From "no strings attached"; the narrator rejects any emotional commitment.
crash course
an intensive lesson learned through a painful mistake — Plays on the car-crash image to suggest that the relationship will teach hard lessons.
Drippin' tears
crying heavily, leaking tears — "Drippin'" is also slang for looking stylish, which gives the line an ironic twist.
Never turn back when I'm goin' full speed
never retreat once fully committed to the reckless path — Sums up the song's refusal to slow down, even when it is dangerous.
